Horrendous Customer Service in the Pub

I just had a horrendous customer service experience
—not the worst ever, but still pretty awful. My boyfriend and I went out to a local pub/restaurant for dinner—I went there once before with my family and had a good experience. This time was completely different.
We decided to sit at the bar and eat our dinner there while watching the world champion Mavericks crush the Celtics. We were greeted by the bartender who was our waiter for the night. He brought us our waters and a few minutes later we ordered our dinner. While we were waiting, some regulars at the bar were saying that they loved the Dallas Mavericks (who wouldn't?). The bartender quickly replied “Ya, I can’t find the game” and started rapidly changing the channel. I informed him that the television was just on the game, and all I received was the evil eye.
I let the evil eye slide and thought I was just over-reacting. A few minutes later, a new patron came in to place an order and sat at the bar by us. He looked around and finally another waitress had to come and take his order after he was completely ignored by the bartender... who seemed to be too focused on his friends at the bar.
After these two slightly off-putting instances, we finished our meal and were prepared and ready to pay and leave. Well, our bartender looked at us, picked up his iPad and walked off. I thought maybe he would be right back but he went in the back (in clear view) for about five solid minutes and played a game on his iPad. If that wasn’t bad enough, he then proceeded to go into the kitchen and have a mini dance-party with the staff. It wasn’t until my boyfriend decided to have his own “dance party” with his credit card that the less-than-caring bartender noticed and reluctantly made his way back to the bar.
No one would say this was a good experience but if you’re going to work in customer service… have personality and want to help customers. Do your best to provide the best customer service whether or not you want to be at work that day.
Have you ever had an experience like this? How did you handle it?
