What Are you Wishing for Underneath your Customer Service Tree?

This year what are you hoping to get under your tree? Clothing? Toys? Power tools? A new TV? Everyone wishes for something different under their tree, but what about under your customer service tree? This year there are a few things you should ask customer service Santa for in order to ensure a successful 2012 in customer service.

A Fool-Proof Strategy: You’re going to need to create a fool-proof strategy to lock in a great year for your business when it comes to customer service. Lay out what you want to do for 2012 and set a timeline for it as well.

Goals: This seems obvious to some but unnecessary to others. You must have goals in place for the up and coming year—how many new leads you would like to gain, increase conversion rates by a certain percentage—whatever they may be, you need to have goals. How will you know if you’re on track if you can’t measure your goals and success?

Competent Customer Service Representatives.  In order to meet your goals and implement your strategy, you are going to need competent customer service reps. You’re entrusting your success essentially in their hands… or headsets. Don’t hire someone and put them on the phones immediately.  Train them; let them know your strategy and goals. That way, you are all on the same page and can shoot for your goals together.
