In my post "SaaS: Bottom Line Savior or Alotta Hype" I mildly stated I had some concerns about SaaS, On-Demand, or Cloud Computing, whichever you want to call it (I am sure there are differences in each but the issues remain the same). I cited some work by Forrester Research and some other tidbits.

Richard Stallman, however, was not mild. In an article in the UK's Guardian, he had a more robust reaction. Selena Frye brought it to my attention through her blog entry for September 30.

Mr. Stillman is not the only one quoted in that article either. Larry Ellison of Oracle had something to say. I really enjoyed his comparison of the computer industry to women's fashion. At the heart of the article is the firm belief that we are going too fast in regards to the cloud computing phenomenon. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have embraced something before we thought it through. It is just the latest time. And, as usual, money is at the bottom of it.

What is your opinion of the cloud?
