I just had an interesting online conversation about "How to extract information for a knowledge worker?". The conversation went from cook the knowledge worker a good meal and sit down and talk to them to buy a super high end too that would magically extract the information from the person's head scientifically. As you can see, I think that these are the extremes to gathering knowledge.

My position on this topic is this; keep it simple and integrated into the daily flow of work. If any of us are asked to do something that takes us out of our daily routine, then the likeliness of that task getting done is low. Ask someone to consistently go out of their way to do something the chances of this happening is even lower.

So extracting or capturing knowledge has to be easy and part of the daily routine. This process should be as easy as clicking a button. Easy and Integrated! Traditionally companies have made it hard causing more companies to try to create silo solutions to solve the problem.
